La colonna sonora è curata nuovamente dai creativi del classico originale, che comprendono Hans Zimmer per le musiche strumentali e Elton John e Tim Rice per le canzoni, con la collaborazione del musicista africano Lebo M. Come si può notare dalla tracklist completa, tutti i brani del classico originale saranno nel film remake, persino la canzone di Scar Sarò Re che inizialmente sembrava dover essere esclusa. I fan potranno quindi riascoltare le amate note de Il Cerchio della Vita, L’Amore è nell’Aria Stasera e molte altre ancora.

Ma ci sono anche delle novità. Per esempio sarà presente nei titoli di coda Lui Vive in Te, brano che originariamente era stato composto per il classico ma finì poi per essere utilizzato nel sequel Il Re Leone 2 e nel musical di Broadway. E sempre nei titoli di coda si troverà anche Never Too Late, canzone inedita scritta da Elton John e Tim Rice.

Un unico brano figura ancora come “TBA“, ovvero To Be Announced: si tratta della track numero 14, la canzone da solista di Beyoncé, che verrà probabilmente svelata in seguito con un grande annuncio data la portata del nome della star. Contrariamente a quanto comunicato in precedenza, sembra che la sequenza con la sua canzone si trovi all’interno del film e non nei titoli.

Diretto da Rob Marshall, il film racconta la storia di una coppia che non può avere figli perché maledetta da un incantesimo di una strega cattiva. Nel tentativo di liberarsi dalla maledizione, i due si avventurano in una pericolosa foresta incantata. La loro storia si intreccerà a quella dei personaggi delle fiabe più famose: Cenerentola, Raperonzolo, Cappuccetto Rosso e Jack e il fagiolo magico. In Italia uscirà ad Aprile 2015, in America il prossimo 25 Dicembre.
