Questa notte si è tenuta a Los Angeles la cerimonia di premiazione della 46° edizione degli Annie Awards, i premi dedicati alle produzioni animate consegnati dagli stessi addetti ai lavori, attraverso l’associazione degli animatori americani.
Il vincitore assoluto della serata, come prevedibile, è stato Spider-Man: Un Nuovo Universo, con ben sette vittorie (miglior film, miglior regia, miglior sceneggiatura, migliori scenografie, migliore character animation, miglior character design e miglior montaggio) per i Sony Pictures Studios. Due, invece, i premi de Gli Incredibili 2 (miglior colonna sonora e migliori storyboard) e quattro quelli assegnati a Il Ritorno di Mary Poppins per il lavoro sulle sequenze animate.
Infine, tre sono stati i Winsor McCay Awards (i premi ispirati all’omonimo e celebre fumettista) consegnati a: Ralph Eggleston, Andrea Romano (entrambi animatori dei Pixar Animation Studios) e Frank Braxton (animatore dei Warner Bros. Studios scomparso negli anni ’70).
