Howard Ashman protagonista di un documentario, ecco il trailer

Tutti i fan Disney ricordano con affetto il grande Howard Ashman, paroliere che in collaborazione con il compositore Alan Menken contribuì alla rinascita dello studio negli anni ’90 grazie alle straordinarie canzoni de La Sirenetta e La Bella e la Bestia.

Ashman morì a causa di complicazioni dovute all’AIDS nel 1991, otto mesi prima dell’arrivo al cinema de La Bella e la Bestia. La Disney dedicò dunque a lui la pellicola, grazie alla famosa frase: Al nostro amico Howard, che diede ad una sirena la sua voce e ad una bestia la sua anima, ti saremo sempre grati. Numerosi sono i premi che l’artista ha ricevuto postumi, tra cui un Oscar, un Golden Globe, un Grammy e il premio Disney Legend.

Ora la sua storia diventa oggetto di un documentario diretto da Don Hahn, il produttore del classico Disney La Bella e la Bestia. A omaggiare Ashman nel film ci saranno la sorella Sarah Ashman Gillespie e il compagno Bill Lauch, nonché molti talenti che ebbero l’onore di lavorare con lui, tra cui ovviamente Alan Menken.

Descendants 2, tutte le canzoni e i testi del film

A seguito della trasmissione del film in America, Disney VEVO ha caricato su YouTube per la visione in modo gratuito tutti i video delle canzoni di Descendants 2.

Nel Disney Channel Original Movie, Mal tornerà sull’Isola degli Sperduti dove la sua acerrima nemica Uma (figlia di Ursula) ha preso il suo posto come regina autoproclamata della città. Ancora risentita per non essere stata selezionata da Ben per andare ad Auradon, Uma trama vendetta contro i buoni e soprattutto contro Mal.

Il film andrà in onda su Disney Channel Italia a settembre. Qui sotto nel frattempo potete ascoltare le canzoni.

Disney è al lavoro sul musical di Hercules?

Dopo La Bella e la Bestia, Il Re Leone, La Sirenetta e molti altri ancora, la Disney potrebbe essere al lavoro su una versione teatrale del classico Hercules.

Ad affermarlo è il compositore Alan Menken, leggenda Disney e del panorama musicale mondiale, autore appunto delle musiche e delle canzoni di questo classico. In una delle ultime interviste da lui rilasciate in occasione del suo nuovo spettacolo A Whole New World of Alan Menken (che sarà presentato al D23 Expo), possiamo infatti leggere:

Ci sono delle soundtrack tra i tuoi lavori che pensi siano sottovalutate o che non hanno mai raggiunto la popolarità sperata?
[…] Credo che, esattamente come è successo a Newsies, anche Hercules avrà il suo momento per sorprendere il pubblico. In realtà, sto proprio lavorando all’adattamento teatrale di Hercules in questo periodo.

Attendiamo quindi novità su questo progetto che al momento è ovviamente in uno stadio di pre-produzione. Nel frattempo vi ricordiamo che a Broadway è in arrivo il musical di Frozen (2018), mentre in Italia arriverà a febbraio 2018 la versione tradotta del celebre musical di Mary Poppins.

La Bella e la Bestia, la versione eliminata della canzone Days in the Sun

Tra le anticipazioni dei contenuti bonus del Blu-Ray de La Bella e la Bestia, Disney ha diffuso una delle scene eliminate, presentata dal regista Bill Condon.

Si tratta di una versione alternativa di Days in the Sun, che doveva essere cantata dalla madre del principe. Il regista spiega che è stato necessario modificare la scena perché l’attrice scelta per interpretare la regina somigliava troppo alla Maga Agata e gli spettatori mostrarono confusione durante gli screen test (ovvero dei test durante i quali viene proiettato il film non finito di modo da apportare modifiche a seconda delle reazioni del pubblico).

Annunciato il cast completo di Frozen on Broadway

Questa volta è la definitiva: dopo workshop e laboratori (che ci avevano presentato diversi interpreti), è stato finalmente stabilito il cast del musical di Frozen, in arrivo a Broadway il prossimo anno.

Frozen inizierà off-Broadway al Buell Theatre nel Denver Center for the Performing Arts a partire dal 17 agosto di quest’anno. Il debutto a Broadway è previsto per la primavera del 2018.

Descendants 2, la tracklist della colonna sonora

Dopo aver ascoltato il primo singolo Ways to Be Wicked, vi mostriamo anche la tracklist completa della colonna sonora di Descendants 2, il Disney Channel Original movie in uscita a luglio 2017.

Essa comprende sei brani originali composti per il film, più due cover provenienti dal classico Disney La Sirenetta (Kiss the Girl e Poor Unfortunate Souls) e infine tre canzoni che vengono dalla serie animata Descendants: Wicked World.

Questa la trama del sequel: Non riuscendo a sopportare la pressione della perfezione ricercata dai reali, Mal torna sull’Isola degli Sperduti dove la sua acerrima nemica Uma (figlia di Ursula interpretata da China Anne McLain) ha preso il suo posto come regina autoproclamata della città. Ancora risentita per non essere stata selezionata da Ben per andare a Auradon, Uma ha convinto altri figli dei cattivi a rompere la barriera e liberare tutti i cattivi imprigionati sull’Isola degli Sperduti.

Mulan, niente canzoni nel live action del 2018

Scordatevi una versione live action di Farò di te un uomo: la regista di Mulan, in uscita nel 2018, ha annunciato che la trasposizione non conterrà canzoni.

Secondo Niki Caro, che conferma quanto riportato da Sean Bailey, presidente di Disney Pictures, il live action non avrà momenti musicali (“con grande disperazione dei miei figli”), e si concentrerà invece sull’avventura e sull’azione. Mulan sarà quindi prima di tutto un film di guerra incentrato su un’eroina che sconfigge gli stereotipi, emozionante e commovente.

E del resto, anche la versione originale del classico Disney era stata pensata senza canzoni: fu lo studio a imporre ai registi di inserire anche momenti musical per alleggerire la tensione della storia e soprattutto per tentare di riprodurre la formula vincente che si era ormai stabilita con il grande successo de La Bella e la Bestia e Il Re Leone.

Vi ricordiamo che il live action arriverà al cinema il 2 novembre 2018.

Rapunzel, nuovo trailer e video musicali della serie tv

È andato in onda venerdì 10 marzo in America Tangled Before Ever After, il film per la televisione che anticipa l’inizio di Tangled – The series, la serie animata dedicata alla principessa Rapunzel.

Il 24 marzo è invece atteso, sempre su Disney Channel USA, l’arrivo del primo episodio della serie tv, che continuerà le avventure di Rapunzel e Eugene subito dopo gli eventi del film.
